As NFTs and Web3 continue to bring innovation to the cultural industries, a new network – NFTV – is looking to bring the power of television creation to the people who enjoy it. The project from popular voice actor and musician Greg Sipes will use DAO to bring in user content along with projects from major film and television names.
Greg Sipes, co-founder of NFTV, is a veteran of the entertainment industry
Greg Sipes definitely knows a thing or two about the film and television industry. This is because it has been a part of the business since childhood. As a matter of fact, the show business runs in the family. Sipes’ grandparents were actors, and his father was a television producer. As a result, Sipes was able to learn the ropes early on.
His long career has seen him earn over 150 credits as an actor. Of course, most people will know Cipes as the voice of two beloved cartoon characters: Teen Titans’ Beast Boy and Michelangelo on Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Now, Cipes is preparing to launch NFTV. Cipes started the project with fellow actor Lukas Haas after first coming to the NFTs through Bright Moments DAO. Cipes first learned about NFTs at the start of Covid-19, when some friends told him about the technology. He soon saw it as an ideal way to empower creative communities and connect with fans.
In fact, when speaking to NFTevening about NFTV, Cipes clarifies the end goal of the project. “NFTV is serving the people for the people. The goal is not to make money, though that may come.” Instead, Cipes wants to use the power of DAOs to give people more participation and control over the content they watch.

Cryptography, animation and hemp: the mission of NFTV
The thing Greg Kibbs highlights about NFTV is what he calls the Three Cs: crypto, hemp, and cartoonish. That factor into three of Cipes’ passion, as well as the network’s upcoming ethos. Certainly, Sipes sees the three industries as having the potential to cause serious disruption in the world.
In terms of the type of content that will live on NFTV, Greg Kibs sees NFTV as, “MTV – but when it was cool – meets Adult Swim. I also call it ADD TV.” This speaks to the eclectic, fast-paced mix of short-form content that Cipes envisions for the green illumination of the DAO.
In a way, NFTV blends traditional entertainment networks with the user-generated content model that social media platforms have made so popular. Cipes notes that this is by design, and reflects the demographic makeup that NFTV primarily caters to, saying,
“This is really for the younger generation, Generation Z, to get content from a network not run by billionaires and oligarchs.”

How will DAO work?
While NFTV will be built on Ethereum, the current plan is to stream its content on Twitter and YouTube. Thus NFTV content will be very accessible to the masses. Along the same lines, while Cipes acknowledges that he has a vision of what the platform could be, he maintains that “Each step will be decided by the DAO.”
To enable this, the DAO will have a governance model that uses tokens to distribute votes among members. In addition, DAO will also issue airtime codes to people who watch NFTV content. There is no word yet on when the DAO Membership Codes will be available. In any case, the goal is again to set it at a price that many people can afford.
The road to launching NFTV has certainly been challenging. However, Sipes talks about how the vision of what NFTV could be has helped him keep going. Especially when it was so hard.
“Access to NFTV was a heavy burden for me. But whenever I thought about stopping, I thought, Well, someone else would and it wouldn’t be good! And the more I kept going, the more I saw the universe loved it.”
Overall, like most creators who were early adopters of Web3, Cipes hopes that NFTV will also serve as a model for other creators to take control of their art and empower their fans. He concludes our interview with a tip for any content creators looking to find their way in this emerging space.
“My advice on getting started is just get started! Go to the edge of the cliff and jump off the top.”
